Jamia Masjid re-opened for prayers after 30 weeks

SRINAGAR: The historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar was reopened for congregational prayers today after a gap of over 30 weeks.

An official told that Jamia Masjid was reopened today after a gap 30 weeks and Friday prayers will be today at the central Jamia Masjid Srinagar.

Meanwhile, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar and Anjuman Auqaf general secretary Mohammad Altaf also confirmed to KNS that Jamia Masjid has been reopened and Friday prayers will be held today.

On February 28, divisional commissioner Kashmir, P K Pole, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, SSP Srinagar along with other officials had visited the masjid to take review of arrangements for its reopening. The officials had also held a meeting with the Anjuman Auqaf regarding the reopening of Jamia Masjid. (KNS)
