Indian Railways maintained high momentum in freight loading, earnings in June this year

The Ministry of Railways has said that Indian Railways has maintained high momentum in terms of freight loading and earnings for the month of June this year. In June, Indian Railways freight loading was over 11 crore 26 lakh tonnes. This is an increase of more than 11 percent as compared to June 2019. It is also an increase of more than 20 percent compared to June 2020.

In June this year, Indian Railways earned over 11 thousand 180 crore rupees from freight loading. This is nearly 4.5 percent higher compared to June 2019 and 26.7 percent higher compared to June 2020. Ministry of Railways has said that the speed of freight trains has been enhanced in the existing network. It has said that freight speed has doubled over the last 19 months. Freight speed improvement leads to saving of costs for all stake holders. It added that a number of concessions and discounts are also being given to make Railways Freight movement very attractive.
