India-Pak fighting’s add to the religious tension: Farooq Abdullah

“I agree with Rajnath Singh that the division of India was a historical mistake. Indian Muslims are suffering due to this. India-Pak fightings add to the religious tension. It could've been avoided had it been only one nation,” Farooq Abdullah told reporters in New Delhi.     Earlier, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had said that partition of India in 1947 on the basis of religion was a “historic mistake.”

Jammu: National Conference chief and Fromer Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah said that the fighting between two neighbouring countries India and Pakistan triggers the religious tension.

“I agree with Rajnath Singh that the division of India was a historical mistake. Indian Muslims are suffering due to this. India-Pak fightings add to the religious tension. It could’ve been avoided had it been only one nation,” Farooq Abdullah told reporters in New Delhi.     Earlier, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had said that partition of India in 1947 on the basis of religion was a “historic mistake.”

“This (1971) war also shows that India’s division on the basis of religion was a historic mistake. Pakistan’s birth took place in the name of one religion but it couldn’t remain as one,” the minister said.
