India has registered strong protest with Sri Lankan govt regarding death of four Indian fishermen: S Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar today informed that India has registered a strong protest with the Sri Lankan Government regarding the death of four Indian fishermen which took place on 18th of last month.

In his reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Dr. Jaishankar said, a strong protest in this regard was conveyed to the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister by the Indian High Commissioner. He informed that a strong demarche was also made to the Sri Lankan Acting High Commissioner in New Delhi. The External Affairs Minister asserted that New Delhi has expressed its deep anguish at the loss of lives and has emphasized the need to deal with issues pertaining to fishermen in a humane manner.
