In past 15 days, more than 19,000 tourists visit Sonamarg

SRINAGAR: Over the past 15 days, more than 19,000 tourists visited the famous tourist resort Sonmarg.

As per the official figures, the number of tourists has increased in the last 15 days. From November 20 to December 5 a total of 19,526 tourists visited the place. Among them 16, 390 are domestic and 3136 are local tourists.

“The flow of tourists is much better than what it was earlier. After Covid we are thankful to the tourism department for the promotion and with time it’s getting better and better,” said a local hotelier.

“I hope the Z-Morh tunnel opens soon and we can have more tourists here,” Manzoor Ahmad, another local hotelier said. Chief Executive Officer Sonamarg Development Authority Mushtaq Ahmad Rather told that several facilities have been put in place like uninterrupted electricity, water.

“Employees of PDD, PHE, BEACON and medical staff are stationed in Sonmarg, ” he said. “The machines of BEACON and SDA have been made functional for snow clearance,” Rather said—(KNO)
