In J&K, Congress focusses on social media to counter BJP

JAMMU: Noting that the country is under an ‘undeclared emergency’ with mainstream media blindsided with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s narratives and agendas, the Jammu and Kashmir Congress is making efforts to strengthen its social media cell.

The grand old party is of the belief that social media remains the only tool to help bust the ‘fake narratives’ of BJP and make the public aware of the ideology and activities of Congress.

A meeting of the party’s Social Media department was organised by Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Social Media Chairperson Bilal Rashid in its Jammu office on Friday.

The meeting was chaired by party’s J&K president Vikar Rasool Wani, JKPCC General Secretary Shahnawaz Choudhary and other senior leaders and social media volunteers of party.

Wani said that in today’s time of undeclared emergency under the present regime when mainstream media is not giving coverage to activities of congress party, ‘we are left with social media platforms to aware common masses about ideology and activities of our party’.

“Social media is the only tool to expose failures of BJP. We should use our platforms to highlight challenges and issues faced by common people by anti-people policies of BJP regime,” said the JKPCC chief.

Shahnawaz Choudhary said that there is urgent need to strengthen infrastructure required for smooth functioning of social media team of Congress which will ‘help us in busting fake narratives of BJP’.

Bilal Rashid said that our team will try its best to propagate message of party to common masses in addition to exposing fake narratives set by BJP in Jammu and Kashmir.

He further said that message of Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Shri Rahul Gandhi is also reaching to nook and corner of Jammu and kashmir by efforts of our volunteers.

He thanked PCC President and other senior leaders for their appreciation and support to Social Media team of Jammu and Kashmir Congress.
