IMD downgrades red category warning for Mumbai as heavy rain belt moves towards Karnataka

Regional Meteorological Center Mumbai has informed that the cyclonic circulation in Arabian Sea has weakened and shifted towards Karnataka. Due to which, warnings issued for Mumbai are lowered. Now Red category warnings are issued for Raigad and Ratnagiri for today and tomorrow.

IMD has warned that thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds and extremely heavy rains are expected at isolated places. Orange category warnings are issued for Palghar, Thane, Mumbai and Sindhudurg for next few days. IMD said, heavy to very heavy rains are expected at a few places in these districts.

Conditions are favourable for further advance of monsoon into some more parts of Madhya Pradesh, remaining parts Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and some parts of east Uttar Pradesh during the next 24 hours.

IMD said Monsoon has further advanced into remaining parts of Northwest Bay of Bengal, some more parts of Odisha, most parts of West Bengal and some parts of Jharkhand and Bihar.
