HANDWARA: An improvised explosive device (IED) was on Monday morning recovered by a Road Opening Party of BSF in a Handwara village

A senior official in the BSF said that at about 0745 hrs, the ROP party of E/54 Bn BSF under ops control of SHQ BSF Kupwara detected/recovered an IED in the general area Bhattpura village near a culvert on Handwara.

The recovery of the explosive has averted a major tragedy, they further said.  Adding that they said the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) has been called in to defuse the IED>.
