Jammu, March 20: Under monthly programme of “Horizon Series”, Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Jammu today organized cultural cum painting competition function based on theme “Vidhya Dhan Mahan Dhan” in collaboration with Pt Sansar Chand Baru Memorial Charitable Trust in the premises of Kala Kendre, Jammu.
K. K. Sharma, Advisor to Governor of the State graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Besides, Raj Bharti, Social Worker, T. R. Sharma KAS (Retd), Anuradha Rishi, President, Sansar Chand Baru Trust and other distinguished guests were also present on the occasion.
While addressing the guests and participants, NK Shil, Regional Director briefly highlighted the various activities carried out by ICCR in Jammu region ever since its inception way back in July 2012. He said that besides holding cultural and other events, the main aim of the ICCR is to bring the entire country together through cultural initiatives. So it strives hard to establish, strengthen and promote intercultural bond and enhance mutual understanding, relationship and neighbourhood bonding among the diverse section of the society. At the same time, it tries to provide platform to budding local talents especially those hailing from far flung areas also and disadvantaged background so that they can showcase their talent in the field of dance, music, drama and art competition thereby motivating them for achieving higher level in these fields. In today’s function, children from rural area of Nagrota Primary School, Viraj Bal Bhawan School were invited to demonstrate their talent.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. K.K. Sharma lauded the role of ICCR Jammu and diligent efforts to involve children from rural area for painting competition.
Expressing her happiness to witness the talent of students who kept the audience spell bound during the program, Mrs Sharma congratulated Mr Shil, Regional Director for his generous involvement in taking the message of ICCR to the downtrodden children of primary school. She also interacted with children and appreciated their dance performances, painting prepared during on-spot completion and distributed prizes as an incentive to children wishing them bright future.
On this occasion, Raj Bharti and Anuradha Rishi also spoke on the occasion.
The function was coordinated by Reena Slathia Cultural Officer ICCR and ably conducted by Rajni Anubhav, renowned radio and TV anchor.
