Hybrid militant arrested in Reasi along with arms and ammunition: Police

REASI: A Hybrid militant has been arrested by Reasi Police along with arms and ammunition.

Reasi police in a statement said information was received through reliable sources at Police Station Mahore that a person namely Zaffer Iqbal S/O Karim Baksh R/O Bal, Angralla Tehsil mahore District Reasi is in touch with Militants handlers in Pakistan.

Pertinently his brother namely Mohd Ishaq was a militant of LET militant organisation and got killed in an encounter with Security forces in district Rajouri and reportedly one of his relatives namely Abdul Rashid S/O Khushi Mohd R/o Ladh, Tehsil Mahore, District Reasi is in Pakistan and is also working with militant groups, the statement said.

On this information case FIR No109/2022 U/S 120-B, 121, 121-A, 122, 123, 124 IPC stand registered at the police station and teams of Reasi Police raided and arrested said accused namely Zaffar Iqbal from Plaasu Nallah and put him under sustained interrogation. During interrogation, Zaffar Confessed his intimacy with militant organizations and about the commission of an offence, the police said.

On this, a joint operation of teams of Reasi Police, 58 RR and 126 Bn of CRPF was launched in Angrala forest and on his disclosure Arms, Ammunitions and Explosive Recovered from a hideout in the area which includes

1. Pistol( Glock) = 02( 01 damaged hand grip).
2. Magazine Pistol Glock = 04 (02 Damaged).
3. Rounds 9mm Live = 22.
4. Grenade ( Likely Chinese) = 01

During further disclosure terror fund Rs.181000/ which was to be used for militant-related activities was also recovered. In this section 7/25 IAA, 2/4 Explosive Act and 17/18/20/23/38 UAPA are added to the case. Terming the arrest and recovery a big success Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi Sh Amit Gupta-JKPS Conveyed that Zaffar was in touch with militant groups and with his arrest a major militant strike is averted.

SSP further added that Pak Handlers are in constant efforts to the revival of militancy in the upper reaches of district Reasi and people like Zaffar are working for them. He appealed that peace-loving citizens of Reasi disowned millitancy in past also and no such attempt will be successful in this area, police said.
