Home minister Rajnath Singh today said the lynching incidents happened in several parts of the country are very unfortunate and matter of grave concern.
Replying to Congress member K C Venugopal’s concern in the Lok Sabha, Mr Singh strongly condemned such incidents and said strongest action should be taken against culprits.
The Home minister also said that due to fake news in social media many such violent incidents have occurred and centre has given instructions to states and social media service providers in this regard. Mr Singh called for regulation of social media sites.
Mr Singh said government has also issued two advisories, one recently and one in 2016. The minister said the onus of law and order lies on the state governments and whenever such incidents happen, he speaks to the concerned chief ministers and ensure stringent action.
