HM Amit Shah welcomes decision to provide reservation for OBCs, EWS in medical courses

Home Minister Amit Shah welcomed the decision to provide reservation for OBC category for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in medical education saying it is a historic decision. He congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide 27 per cent reservation for OBC category and 10 per cent reservation for economically weaker sections in All India Quota Scheme in undergraduate and postgraduates in the medical education.

Mr. Shah said, by fulfilling this long pending demand, Mr. Modi has shown the commitment of the government towards the welfare of backward classes and economically weaker sections. About five thousand 550 students will be benefited. Under this scheme, along with the 27 per cent reservation for OBCs, 10 per cent reservation for EWS is also being extended in All India Quota seats for all the undergraduate and postgraduate students in medical and dental courses from the current academic year 2021-22.
