Highest single-day spike of Covid19 detected in Maharashtra

Highest single-day spike of Covid19 was detected in Maharashtra, yesterday. ICMR’s Head for epidemiology and communicable diseases Dr. Samiran Panda said that the primary reason for the spike is, people are ignoring Covid 19 guidelines. As per recent sero survey, 75 % indians are not infected by Corona virus, so far. And hence, whether it is a new strain or old strain, infection is the same. He appealed to everyone to follow social distancing, wear mask and avoid social gatherings.

In some states, few patients are found infected after vaccination. He said that vaccination helps to reduce the severity of disease. So everyone should get vaccinated.  He also clarified that delaying the period between two doses will be wrong, as it may increase the chances of infection during that period.  Mr. Panda also said that people’s participation in awareness should be increased.
