High Security Registration number plates (HSRP) mandatory: RTO

However, it has been observed that some motor vehicles are still plying on road without affixing mandatory HSRP and is, therefore, violating orders of the Supreme Court/Department, it said.

Jammu: The Office of the Regional Transport Jammu on Thursday said that High Security Registration number plates (HSRP) are mandatory in all vehicles plying on the road and the violators will be dealt sternly.

In a public notice issued here, the RTO Jammu has said that the general public/owners of motor vehicles are informed that the Jammu and Kashmir Motor Vehicles Department, in compliance to the directions of the Supreme Court, has issued circular whereby use of HSRP in all motor vehicles made mandatory and the motor vehicle owners have to affix the same in their respective vehicles by or before September 16, 2017.

However, it has been observed that some motor vehicles are still plying on road without affixing mandatory HSRP and is, therefore, violating orders of the Supreme Court/Department, it said.

“Accordingly, it is reiterated that owners of all motor vehicles shall ensure affixation of HSRP in their motor vehicles from authorized vendors stationed at old RTO office, WareHouse, Jammu and at all other ARTO offices,” the notice read.

It further said that any default shall be treated as willful violation by the concerned motor vehicle owner and shall be dealt accordingly.
