SRINAGAR: Handwara Police has arrested four gamblers and recovered stake money in the Langate area.
In a statement, police said, “On April 22, 2023, a police party of Police Post Langate while patrolling near Shanoo apprehended four gamblers. Stake money amounting to Rs. 19,380/- (Rupees Nineteen thousand, three hundred and eighty only) and playing cards being used for the offence were recovered from the gambling spot.
The gamblers have been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Bhat S/o Gh Rasool R/o Goripora Dardpora Sopore. Shabir Ahmad Chopan S/o Gh Mohammad R/o Bumai Sopore. Showkat Ahmad Khan S/o Ab Majeed Khan R/o New Colony Sopore and Ishfaq Altaf S/o Altaf Hussain Shah R/o Hamam Sopore.
In relation to this, FIR No.87/2023 U/s 13 Gambling Act has been registered in Police Station Handwara and an investigation initiated.
