Gulmarg receives fresh snowfall, rains lash plains of Kashmir

Temp plummets; Weatherman predicts improvement from tomorrow

Srinagar, Mar 08: The world-famous ski-resort, Gulmarg received fresh snowfall while rains lashed plains of Kashmir on Monday, thus bringing the temperature down in the Valley.

According to the news agency, the higher reaches of Kashmir including Gurez, Karnah, Sonamarg, Drass, Gulmarg and others turned white again after the areas received fresh snowfall in the intervening night of Sunday-Monday.

However, the intermittent rainfall lashed plains of Kashmir including the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar.

Deputy Director Meteorological department (MeT), Mukhtar Ahmad told KNO that there is possibility of improvement in weather conditions from Tuesday morning to Wednesday evening.

He said the two-day wet spell would begin again on Thursday, saying that on Saturday, the weather conditions as per the forecast will improve.

Ahmad also stated that the frequent wet spell is expected in Kashmir in the next coming upcoming days.

The rains and snow in Kashmir brought the mercury down here in Srinagar and elsewhere. As per the officials, the mercury settled at 5.8degrees Celsius in Srinagar on previous night while in Gulmarg, it settled at minus 3.5 degrees Celsius.
