Gujarat: ‘My Village – Corona Free Village’ campaign helped in checking spread of Covid-19 in rural areas

In Gujarat, ‘Maru Gam – Corona Mukt Gam’ or My Village – Corona Free Village – campaign launched by the state government has helped in checking the spread of Covid-19 in rural areas. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani had launched this 15-day campaign on the 1st of May on the occasion of the state’s foundation day. AIR Ahmedabad correspondent reports that ‘My village – Corona Free Village’ campaign was launched with the aim to check the spread of Covid19 infection in the villages.

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani described this campaign as very successful. Recently, during the virtual interaction with the District Development officers and Chief District Medical Officers, Mr. Rupani said that efforts are on to ensure primary healthcare medicines and facilities continue to reach villages. The administration has been directed to provide adequate stock of medicines in the rural areas.

At present, more than 13 thousand Community Covid Care Centers with one lakh 20 thousand beds are available in the villages in 33 districts. A committee of ten prominent villagers also formed at district and taluka levels to create awareness among people for Covid appropriate behavior.
