In Greece, the death toll in wildfires around Athens has mounted to 81. The Fire service said, 187 people were hospitalised following Monday’s fires, with 71 still being treated.
Officials said rescuers searched scorched homes and burned-out cars for survivors.
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has cut short a visit to Bosnia and announced three days of national mourning.
Local media has described the disaster as a national tragedy. In 2007, 77 people were killed in the previous deadliest fires in the country.
