Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir administration on Tuesday withdrew security cover of former IAS officer Shah Faesal. The J&K administration has also withdrawn the security cover of People’s Democratic Party (PAP) youth president Waheed Rehman Para, former MLA Eng Rasheed and all other separatist leaders in the state.

The decision to withdraw the security cover of 18 separatists and 155 political persons was taken nearly a month ago in a security review meeting as it was felt that providing security to the separatist leaders is “wastage” of scarce state resources which could be better utilised elsewhere.

The names also included that of separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yaseen Mali. However, the two have maintained that they never had any security.

The development came a few days after 40 CRPF personnel were killed in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

On Sunday, Shah Faesal launched a new political party at an impressive public rally in Srinagar.

Scores of supporters from different parts of the Valley attended the launch of the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement (JKPM), whose slogan is “Hawa Badlegi” (winds of time will change).
