SRINAGAR: The government on Tuesday said that the vaccination drive for children between the age group of 12-14 years will start from from tomorrow.
The development comes after the governments completed the inoculation of adults and teenagers in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Jammu and Kashmir have already completed 100 per cent vaccination of the 18–65 age group and have also inoculated around 99 per cent of children in the 15-18 age group. Top health officials said that Jammu and Kashmir government is ready for the vaccination of children aged between 12 to 14 years.
“Vaccination drive will start tomorrow for what we have already identified the vaccination sites. All the locations for the vaccination process will be the same as we had already identified locations where teenagers were administered vaccination doses,” the officials said.
They added that the advantage of this Covaxin vaccination is that children aged between 12 to 15 will be fully vaccinated after just a month.
He said that as per the guidelines of the government of India, vaccination for 12-to 14-year-olds children will begin tomorrow and Corbevax will be administered to this age group.
He said that the government has also decided to waive the condition of comorbidity for those above 60 years for receiving booster or “precaution dose” and now all above 60 years can get a booster dose.
It is pertinent to mention here that the COVID-19 Working Group of National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI) had said that India may begin COVID-19 vaccinations for children between 12-14 age group in March—(KNO)
