Government today said, at present, there are nine nuclear power reactors at various stages of construction, targeted for completion by 2024-25.

Informing this to the Lok Sabha, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr Jitendra Singh said, in addition, 12 more nuclear power reactors were accorded administrative approval and financial sanction by the government in June last year.

Mr Singh said, thus 21 nuclear power reactors with an installed capacity of 15700 Megawatt are under implementation, envisaged for progressive completion by 2031.

He said there is no plan to increase the capacity of the existing nuclear power plants in the country.
