GDC Kathua organizes workshop ‘Indian Classical Music’

Kathua: Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua on Friday organized a day long workshop on the essence of Indian Classical Music. College Principal Prof. Sumanesh Singh Jasrotia inaugurated the Workshop.
Senior faculty members Prof. (Dr.) Seema Malpotra HOD English, Prof. Jaswinder Singh IQAC Convenor and HOD Physics, Dr Bharat Bushan HOD Music GLDM GDC Hiranagar, Vikram Singh Jamwal Physical Director, GLDL GDC Hiranagar Dr. Arun Kumar HOD Sociology, Dr Mukesh Kumar, and Dr JS Soodan Physical Director GDC kathua were present during the inauguration.
Renowned Classical Vocalist Ustaad Amjad Ali Khan, Founder of Kiriana Gharana, New Delhi enthralled the audience present in the smart class room of the college with the Hymns of Indian Classical Music.
He was formally welcomed by the Principal of the College Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia. In his welcome address he admired Dr Seth zeal and enthusiasm for channelizing the Youth of India to make India of our dreams and for the promotion of Indian Classical Music.
He was accompanied by the Rashid Niazi on Tabla. Ustaad Amjad Ali Khan briefed the students and audience about the importance of Indian classical music in the society and the life of an individual. Ustaad Amjad Ali also demonstrated about the need of the hour to respect our cultural heritage and civilization.
He discussed with the students about Dhrupad, Hayal and Haveli Sangeet. This workshop was organized by the SPIC MCAY, An organization which works for the Promotion and importance of Indian Classical Music throughout the world.
SPIC MACAY is 45 year old organization founded by the Padamshree Dr Kiran Seth, Professor Emeritus which is working from longer period of Time for the expansion and promotion of Indian Classical Music all over the world.
A rousing welcome with floral tributes was accorded to the Padamshree Dr. kiran Seth, by the students and the Principal along with Senior Faculty Members.
Dr Kiran Seth interacted with College students in two consecutive sessions and enthralled them about the various methods of concentration of mind to particular target.
He elaborated about the Indian Classical music and its essence of spiritual wellbeing. The students of National Service Scheme, NCC and Physical Education and Sports attentively listened to the Professor Emiratus Dr Kiran Seth and assured him about the preservation of India’s cultural heritage and its diversity.
