JAMMU: Govt. College for Women Bhagwati Nagar organised a webinar on “Prevention of Cyber Crimes associated with various digital products” under Cyber Jagrookta Initiative on 19-5-22. Mr. Amit Handoo, Executive Manager, Incharge Training Centre, J&K Bank was the resource person on the occasion who highlighted the problem of increasing risk incidences due to the alternative online banking platforms available now a days. While addressing the students he said that in today’s digital era it is understandable that computers have become an essential part of one’s existence which has developed an environment conducive to cyber crime. The banking sector which is regarded as the economy’s backbone is under increasing cyber threats because of various user friendly online platforms and there is urgent need to spread awareness to tackle with this menace. The aim of the webinar was to scrutinise the concerns about cyber threats to banking sector by highlighting the underlying tactics and also to know how well our financial institutions are equipped to deal with cyber crime events. He enlightened the students that cyber crime causes massive monetary losses, that are borne not only by customers, but also by banks, affecting country’s economy. Principal of the college Prof. Minnie Sharma also addressed the students and stressed upon the need to know about the preventive measures to narrow down the risks in today’s globalised world, where the banking industry offers many services to their clients and customers. The programme ended with an interactive session wherein the resource person addressed number of queries raised by the students.
