RAJOURI: Fresh exchange of firing was reported on Saturday in Bhangai forest area as the encounter entered the second day in the Rajouri district.

On Friday, two unidentified militants were killed in the encounter at Bhangai. Officials that the ongoing operation in Rajouri has entered the second day after fresh firing was reported in Bhangai forest area of Thanamandi.

Earlier, an encounter broke out between militants and security forces in the area on Friday morning, in which two militants were killed, while search operation was going on.

The officials said that a fresh brief exchange of fire was reported near the encounter site when a joint team of army and police were conducting searches in the area.

They said that more reinforcement has been rushed to the spot. It is believed that one more militant who was part of the three-member group is still hiding in the woods. “Searches have been intensified and firing has stopped,” an official said—(KNO)
