Four Army personnel martyred, two terrorists killed as security forces foil infiltration bid in Bandipora district

In Jammu & Kashmir, the Army foiled an infiltration bid near the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez Sector of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district today. Four army personnel and two terrorists were killed in the encounter.

Army sources said a patrolling party of Army (36 Rashtriya Rifles) came face to face with an infiltrating group of terrorists at RC Post on this side of LoC near Govind Nallah in Gurez Sector.
Defence spokesman told AIR that in the ensuing gunfight, four army personnel including a Major rank officer and two terrorists were killed in the operation.

Army sources added that a group of at least eight terrorists attacked the army patrolling party and tried to infiltrate into this side of LoC. However, the army personnel retaliated in a befitting manner in which two terrorists were killed. They said bodies of two terrorists were found while search operation for the other two terrorists is underway in the difficult mountainous terrain.

Army sources said that four other members of the infiltrating group were forced to retreat to the other side of the LOC. More details are awaited.
