SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 24: The Directorate of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) today observed National Consumer Day, under the theme ‘Trusted Smart Products’.
On this occasion, a seminar was organized by the Directorate of FCS&CA in collaboration with Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kothi Bagh Srinagar.
The seminar was attended by Director FCS&CA, Bashir Ahmad Khan, Joint Director food Muhammad Akbar, Associate Professor IIMPA, Jahan Ara Jabeen, Principal Government Higher Secondary, Kothibagh, Nuzhat Bukhari, members of Civil Societies, Advocates and Students.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director highlighted the role of District Consumer Dispute Redressal System and said that in last four years, 1934 complaints were registered out of which 1446 complaints have been disposed off while 605 are about to be settled. He added that during this period Rs 5.80 Crore have been paid as compensation, by various courts across Kashmir.
Urging the people to assert consumer rights, lodge complaints in case of consumer disputes, conflicts and grievances, the Director said.
During the seminar, the speakers stressed on making consumers aware of their rights and responsibilities, besides strengthening consumer protection system.
