SRINAGAR: A man accused of attempting to murder his son has been arrested in the Sonawar locality of central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.
The accused, identified as Mehmood Ahmad Wani, son of Nazir Ahmad Wani, a resident of Sonawar Srinagar, as per a police official, stabbed his son (name withheld) after a heated argument.
The official said the victim was soon evacuated to a nearby hospital, where his overall condition is stable. “We have registered an FIR under 121/2023 under section 307 of IPC against the accused”, the official said, adding the weapon of offense has also been recovered at the site.
Srinagar Police, in a tweet, said, “One Mehmood Ahmad wani S/o Nazir wani R/o Sonwar Srinagar arrested for attempting to murder his son. He had an argument which led to the stabbing. The victim is in hospital & stable. FIR no 121/ 2023 u/s 307 of IPC registered in Ram Munshi Bagh PS. Weapon of offense also recovered.
