Eminent literateur Prof Satya Pal Shrivatsa’s life, works captured in Amar Setu special edition

Padma Shri Dr Jitendra Udhampuri described Prof Shrivatsa as a true 'Karmayogi'. Udhampuri said that he had a long association with Prof Shrivatsa, adding that he was like a real friend and guide to him. He said that Prof Shrivatsa's passing away not just created a vacuum in the literary circles of Jammu but it was like a personal loss for him.

Jammu Kashmir Rashtra Bhasha Prachar Smiti (JKRBPS) released ‘Prof Satya Pal Shrivatsa Special Issue’ under its quarterly publication “Amar Setu” here today at Press Club of Jammu in a simple yet impressive function.

The Special Issue of “Amar Setu” has been dedicated to the eminent literateur Prof Satya Pal Shrivatsa, who was a prolific writer of Hindi, Dogri, English and Sanskrit languages.

In his welcome address, Prof Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Secretary and Convenor of JKRBPS, who is also the Chief Editor of “Amar Setu”, said that the ‘Special Issue’ is an effort to pay glowing tributes to the literary works of Prof Shrivatsa. 

A lumaniries of writers, poets, civil society members and social activists attended the programme.

Several of them fondly remembered their association with Prof Shrivatsa besides they also threw light on his professional as well as literary journey, his contributions in the annals of Jammu’s literay circles and his social activism.

Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Padma Shri Dr Jitendra Udhampuri described Prof Shrivatsa as a true ‘Karmayogi’.

Udhampuri said that he had a long association with Prof Shrivatsa, adding that he was like a real friend and guide to him.

He said that Prof Shrivatsa’s passing away not just created a vacuum in the literary circles of Jammu but it was like a personal loss for him.

While Prof Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha, said that Prof Shrivatsa was a treasure of knowledge and had a sharp memory besides he was an upright and honest person, who had cordial relations with all in Jammu’s literary circles.

He said that Prof Shrivatsa had great understanding of Jammu city especially related to its eminent personalities of the past. 

Former bureaucrat and eminent Urdu writer Pritpal Singh Betab described Prof Shrivatsa as multi-dimensional figure who had equal command over literature in Hindi, Dogri, English, Sanskrit and Urdu.

ID Soni, former State Commissioner Bharat Scouts & Guides and a social activist, said that Prof Shrivatsa was a self made man and whatever he achieved in his literary career was just because of his hard work and passion to excel.

Prominet among others who also spoke on the occasion included Padma Shri Prof Ved Ghai, Chand Deepika, Inderjeet Kesar, Nirmal Vinod and Prof Rajkumar.

President JKRBPS, Prof Didar Singh and Editor “Amar Setu” Shyam Lal Raina were also present on the occasion.

The formal vote of thanks was presented by Rajeshwar Singh “Raju” .
