Elephant in the room needs to be addressed

The elephant in the room needs to be addressed.

The message that has gone to the ground is that CAA is anti-Muslim. Without going into whether it is prejudiced against the Muslim community or not, an issue that the Supreme court will soon decide, it is the responsibility of the union government to do whatever it can, to tell those who are angry, upset, worried and fearful that CAA is not anti-Muslim.

Every political party takes steps which suits, spreads its reach, Congress did it earlier , BJP is doing it now. However, the problem arises if any such policy leads to fragmentation in the society, which is happening now. Maybe the BJP strategists didn’t expect such level of reaction or maybe they believe that the reactions can be handled till it subsides. Time will tell.

BJP is saying that the CAA is being brought to give citizenship, however the message that has gone is that it has been brought to take away citizenship of people following Islam.

If these protests/ hooliganism, call it whatever you want to, goes on for few more hours, it will become difficult to control. Those who are fence sitters right now, for or against CAA, too will become active.

No fire spreads as quickly and silently as a communal fire and it doesn’t make a distinction between a tilak or a topi when it starts engulfing anything and everything that comes in its way.
