EAM S Jaishankar to attend G20 ministerial meetings in Italy

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will attend the G20 ministerial meetings in Italy today. These related to ministerial meetings at foreign ministerial level as well as development ministerial level. Yesterday, Dr Jaishankar met Foreign Minister of Indonesia Retno Marsudi.

Both Ministers discussed COVID cooperation and exchanged views on the situation in Myanmar. The External Affairs Minister also had a conversation European Union Commissioner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen. Both discussed the Covid challenge, the Connectivity Partnership and  development cooperation.

Dr Jaishankar discussed India- Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development OECD bilateral engagement with Secretary-General of OECD Mathias Cormann. Dr Jaishankar appreciated OECD’s contribution to the G20. The External Affairs Minister also met Foriegn Minister of South Africa Naledi Pandor. The conversation covered shared concerns on vaccine equity and access.

Since December 2020, Italy holds the Presidency of the G20. The Foreign Affairs Ministers’ Meeting is one of the ministerial meetings organized as part of the G20 Leaders Summit 2021. Dr Jaishankar arrived in Italy on the second leg of his two nation visit. On the first leg of his visit, he visited Greece.
