Jammu: Drones will now be used to deliver vaccines including Covid vaccine to remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh.
The trial will be done on Saturday in the presence of Union Minister, Dr. Jitendra Singh.
If this is successful, it may will make it easier to deliver COVID vaccines and other medicines to remote areas in the coming days. The trial will be held from the Indian Institute of Medicine to Marh.
According to officials, this drone has the capability to fly up to a height of 20 kilometers and 500 meters.
This drone can lift up to ten kilograms of weight. Not only this, it can fly at a speed of 36 kilometers. This will be the first time that drones will be used to deliver the vaccine to remote areas.
So far, employees have been seen carrying the vaccine to remote areas.
After reaching the vaccine from the drone, everyone can be jabbed the at their doorstep.
If the trial is successful from the Indian Institute of Integrated Medicine to Marh, a list of areas will be sought from all the district administrations in which the vaccine is to be sent by drone.
A similar process will happen in Ladakh as well. Although vaccination in Jammu and Kashmir is higher than in many states, there are still some areas where fewer people have got vaccinated.
In Jammu and Kashmir, there are many areas in Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri, Reasi, Poonch, Kupwara and Anantnag districts where it becomes difficult to deliver the vaccine.
Drones will make it easier to deliver the vaccine to these areas.
Minister of State in PMO Dr. Jitendra Singh said that there is a trial on Saturday, this will further accelerate the vaccination campaign in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
