SRINAGAR: The Democratic Progressive Azad Party Monday strongly denied any association with Innayat Rather.

Waseem Yaqoob Additional Spokesperson for JKDPAP in a statement said, “We want to clarify that Rather is an opportunist who only seeks personal gain, and such individuals are not entertained in our party. We uphold the values of true democracy and secularism, and anyone who does not share these principles cannot be a part of our party”.

When our leader Ghulam Nabi Azad Association created his own party with real Congress ideology leaders, he approached us to secure his ticket. However, his opportunistic behaviour was evident when he showed displeasure after being denied the ticket at the working committee meeting, the statement reads.

We want to make it clear that Ghulam Nabi Azad is the only true 24-carat Congress ideology leader. It is unfortunate that the Congress party was nowhere to be seen when the BJP was taking away land from the people, but our party, led by Azad, was on the ground fighting for the rights of the people this shows who is helping BJP and who is fighting them, it added.

We want to assure everyone that the Democratic Progressive Azad Party stands for true democratic values and will not tolerate any opportunistic behaviour. We will continue to work towards the betterment of our society and uphold the principles of democracy and secularism, he said.
