The Jammu and Kashmir State Evacuees, (Administration of Property) Act, 1949 was promulgated by Yuvraj Karan Singh to provide for the administration of Evacuees’ Property in the Jammu and Kashmir State.
Evacuees were the persons who have left Jammu and Kashmir to any place outside the territories new forming part of India, including Pakistan and the areas under the operational control of the Pakistan armed forces. Any property, in which an evacuee has a right or interest was called the Evacuees Property.

This Act provided for vesting of evacuee property in the Custodian for its administration.
