The Jammu and Kashmir Governor’s Special Security Force Bill, 2018 provided for setting up special security force for providing proximate security to the state governor, members of his immediate family and matters connected therewith.
This bill was brought in 2018 when there was no elected government in Jammu and Kashmir.
While The Jammu and Kashmir Special Security Group Act, 2000 provided proximate security to the chief minister, members of his immediate family and other connected matters, it did not provided the same for the governor of the state, hence this legislation.
