Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has said India has adopted a whole-of-society approach to digital technology and improved public services, citizen engagement and accountability. He was virtually addressing the UN High Level Thematic debate on Digital Cooperation and Connectivity at the United Nations General Assembly.
The Minister shared India’s experiences in achieving digital inclusion and use of technology for empowerment of citizens. He said Digital India programme was launched in 2015 to bring digital inclusion and empower ordinary citizens. The Minister added that digitalisation helped India in accelerating financial inclusion.
He further stated that the COVID pandemic has brought out the critical need of cutting edge technology tools and innovation in the areas of tele education and tele medicine.
