JAMMU: Noting that Pakistan was making all out efforts to push more terrorists, drugs and weapons into Jammu and Kashmir, the state police chief Dilbag Singh on Saturday said that the security agencies are determined to finish terrorism in the union territory.
The Director General of Police termed the busting of narco-terror module in Poonch as a huge success and said that the security forces were working comprehensively to dismantle the entire support structure of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
“We have been able to reduce the infiltration of terrorists, but Pakistan is making continuous efforts to push terrorists in large numbers,” said Singh, while speaking on the sidelines of an event in Samba district.
The security agencies in UT including the Jammu and Kashmir police, are determined to finish terrorism from the region, where terrorism is on decline, he said.
Singh noted that besides terrorists, the neighbouring country is also pushing in drugs and weapons into the Indian territory but the security forces are working on dismantling the entire structure, he said, referring to the recovery of Rs 2 crore in cash, 7 kgs of heroin and arms from Poonch on Friday.
Earlier in the day, Singh visited Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI), Vijaypur where he inaugurated various facilities for the trainees and staff besides addressing the darbar of trainees, staff & officers of the Institute.
He was accompanied by ADGP Headquarters PHQ M. K. Sinha, ADPG Coordination PHQ Danesh Rana, DIG Training PHQ Imtiaz Ismail Parrey and AIG (T&P) PHQ, J. S. Johar. He was received by Principal PTTI Vijaypur SSP Shiv Kumar Sharma and other officers & staff of the Institution.
On his arrival, DGP J&K was presented Guard of Honour by the trainees where after he inaugurated the newly constructed Quarter Guard. He then inaugurated various facilities which included Automobile Workshop & Hydraulic Lift, Conference Hall in Indoor Block, Canteen Block and Modular Kitchen. He also inaugurated sports facilities including Synthetic Badminton Court and Net Practicing Cricket Pitch.
He also visited Disaster Management Outdoor Lab and took stock of the training curriculum of said course. SSP Samba Benam Tosh, SP Rural Traffic Jammu Ranjeet, Vice Principal PTTI Vijaypur Rajinder Singh and Staff were also present on the occasion.
DGP J&K later launched PTTI Website at Conference Hall and also handed over ISO Certification to Principal PTTI Vijaypur thus becoming the first J&K Police Training Institute to have received this certificate.
While interacting with the officers, DGP directed the Principal PTTI to underline the technical courses which would be conducted in future in view of changing scenario and new challenges. While interacting with the mechanical training faculty, DGP directed for imparting additional skills to the trainees in order to meet the growing demand in Police workshops. He stressed for upgrading and enhancing technical skills of the team deputed at the Institute. He impressed upon the Principal to chalk out the programme for conducting interaction between trainees with the nearby Schools students besides organizing trekking activities. He directed for identifying areas of excellence and subsequently working on them in every J&K Police training centre. While inspecting various technical labs, DGP emphasized for making available modern technical tools to enable trainees get familiar to new technology.
Principal PTTI gave a PowerPoint Presentation regarding the functioning of the Institute. He apprised DGP regarding various objectives, activities and achievements of the institution besides facilitates available in the institution. He also briefed about various activities conducted under the Civic Action Programme.
