Displaced from the parts of Jammu and Kashmir that is continuously under control of Pakistan since 1947, a group of residents has asked for opening of the Line of Control to be able to access the religious shrines -the temples and gurudwaras -in various parts of Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Gathered under the banner of S.O.S. International -a local NGO working for the displaced persons of various categories -they said a ‘Kartarpur type’ initiative should be taken for travel across the Line of Control for the purpose of visiting religious shrines. The displaced persons, often called refugees in the local parlance, have also asked the government to give them representation by way of reservation in the Legislative Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir
