Declare Nowshehra as district, locals demand

Inhabitants of Nowshehra in Rajouri district here have expressed resentment against the government and demanded immediate redressal of their genuine grievances.

The residents demanded authorities to declare Nowshehra as the district as they are being forced to face hardships visit the district offices, which according to the far away from their areas.

“We have been urging the authorities to look into the matter keeping in view of the sufferings of the residents here but unfortunately nothing has been done in this regard,” they said.

Meanwhile former minister and senior Congress leader, Abdul Majeed Wani supported the demands of Nowshehra and termed their demands as ‘genuine’.

Wani told  that the Nowshehra residents deserve what they are seeking. “The Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and senior congress leader, Ghulam Nabi Azadi took measures to declare Nowshehra as the district during his tenure but since then the government failed to pursue the genuine demands of residents, resulting in immense hardships to them,” he said.

He also said that the current PDP-BJP government has failed to come up to the expectations of the people. “The government has utterly failed to provide benefits to the people of Kashmir,” he said.
