Death toll in Vietnam floods & landslides rises to 22.


In Vietnam, the death toll in floods and landslides triggered by downpour over the weekend in the northern mountainous provinces has risen to 22.

An official of the country’s Natural Disaster Prevention and Control today said nine people were also missing in the disaster. He said 16 people of Lai Chau province, five of Ha Giang province, and one of Quang Ninh province were killed in landslides and flash floods.

The official said all the nine people listed as missing were swept away by floods in Lai Chau.
