Death toll from floods in Japan climbs to 112

In Japan, the death toll from floods and landslides caused by record rainfall in the western part of the country has risen to 112.

Authorities said 3 others are in critical condition and 78 are missing.

Hiroshima Prefecture is the hardest-hit area, with 44 people reported dead. Fatalities have also been reported from other prefectures.

Officials said the death toll may rise as the full extent of the damage is not yet known.
