DDC chairperson, locals protest against railway companies in Reasi

Allege poor working conditions for workers engaged in railway land works

REASI:  The District Development Council chairperson of Reasi, along with other political representatives, civil society members and family members of workers engaged by railway companies for railway land work on Friday held a protest demonstration against the administration and railway companies for playing with the lives of workers.

Officials told that the DDC chairperson and others have demanded an audit into the lapses made by railway companies in ensuring good working conditions for workers.

They said that in the last four days, two railway workers lost their lives due to poor working conditions. “The insensitive approach of administration and railway companies can be gauged from the fact that an Assam based worker who died yesterday in a railway tunnel and concerned company have not even bothered to remove his body from the spot and is even not ready to shift his body,” said DDC chairperson, SS Naag

He appealed to the authorities to ensure that good working conditions for the workers in the area—(KNO)
