Kathua: Col Mahan Singh (Retd) DDC Chairman Kathua on Saturday batted for giving impetus to healthcare edifice and services in Kathua District.
He was speaking during a meeting with Dr Saleem-ul-Rahman Director Medical and Healthcare Services, Jammu at SDH Basohli.
DDC Chairman said that the Healthcare Services need drastic improvement in District Kathua as the dearth of specialist doctors, MOs, paramedical staff, medical equipment and other infrastructure has marred the purpose of providing hassle-free services to the people of this district.
Besides Director Healthcare Services, CMO Kathua, BDC Chairperson Basohli, MC President Basohli, BMO Basohli, doctors and prominent residents were also present in the meeting.
On the occasion, the DDC Chairman also handed over a memorandum highlighting people’s demands pertaining to healthcare in Basohli Sub District.
Meanwhile, a newly established Gynecologist Lab and Blood Bank facility was also inaugurated on the occasion, besides a round was carried out to see various facilities available in the SDH Complex.
The DDC Chairman said that the shortage of medical facilities are forcing the people to travel to other districts for even the basic treatment thus causing undue pressure on the healthcare institutions of the nearby districts besides giving a tough time to the subjects of District Kathua as it is the responsibility of the government to provide all the facilities to the people at their doorsteps.
Col Mahan Singh said that it is the need of the hour to revamp the healthcare facilities at the earliest to provide succor to the people living in the district as travelling to other districts for healthcare needs is not at all justified when the government has got enough funds and manpower to cater to the needs of the people living in the district.
He said that he would not take rest until each and every healthcare facility in the District will be provided with the required staff strength and the equipment needed to satiate the basic needs of the ailing people.
