Doda: Deputy Commissioner, Vishesh Paul Mahajan on Friday visited the construction site of Khellani tunnel to have a firsthand appraisal of the work progress and observed the West Portal partial breakthrough in the tunnel.

The DC was accompanied by SSP, Abdul Qayoom, and GM NHIDCL, N. Gill. At the site, he reviewed the ongoing work on the tunnel and was briefed about the progress made so far.

He was informed that both the tubes of the tunnel are expected to be completed by March 2023. It was further informed that the tunnel tube has 1.5 KM length from one side.

The DC emphasized on safety of the workers, besides quality & timely completion of the ambitious project. The tunnel is an important part of the prestigious alternate National Highway 244 which shall considerably reduce the travel distance and the time while giving a comfortable drive towards the capital cities.

The alternate NH 244 will also benefit social and economic development of the region apart from boosting the tourism in the District.
