Kathua: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rahul Pandey Friday flagged-off Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) Bus Service for different routes at a brief ceremony held here in the General Bus Stand.
DDC Member Bani, Reeta Thakur; DDC Member Lohai Malhar, Kishore Kumar; General Manager JKRTC Shoukat Ahmed, besides RTO, Traffic Manager, Depot Manager and other concerned were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that JKRTC Bus services have been started to augment the transport facility for the public in remote areas of Dhaggar and Badnota.
The DC said that JKRTC bus service will be highly beneficial for the general public especially of hilly areas of Billawar and Bani who otherwise have to rely on private means of transport which is expensive and not readily available.
The GM JKRTC said the bus services will not only facilitate the transport facility to the public but will also ensure comfortable travel as these buses are semi-deluxe and more comfortable than conventional buses.
He further informed that bus service from Jammu-Billawar-Delhi via Dayala Chack has been restored recently which will provide the long route transportation facility for the inhabitants of Billawar sub division.
Pertinently, the Bus Service from Jammu-Kathua-Dhaggar via Lakhanpur-Mahanpur-Basohli-Bhoond-Bani (Departure from Jammu 07:30am) has been restored, while Bus Service on new route Jammu-Badnota via Dyalachack-Billawar-Machhedi (Departure from Jammu 08:00am) has also commenced today providing daily service.
Meanwhuile, DDC Pandey also convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the progress achieved under self employment Schemes being implemented in the district.
During the meeting, the officers briefed the DC about the status of coverage of beneficiaries under the self employment schemes of their departments.
At the outset, the DC took detailed review of physical progress made with respect to self employment generation in the district by different departments viz Employment, Horticulture, Agriculture, Fisheries, Floriculture, Handicraft, Handloom, DUDA, NRLM, SC/OBC Dev. Board and Banks.
The Deputy Commissioner exhorted the officers of stakeholder departments to lay focus on enhancing skills of the job seekers in line with the person-job fit model so that maximum youth could get employed as per their skill sets.
He called for extending adequate hand-holding to unemployed youth to enable them to avail benefits of tailor made self employment schemes. He also directed the banks to facilitate the processing of self-employment cases on priority.
The DC exhorted upon the stakeholder departments to hold Panchayat wise camps through active participation of PRIs to aware the unemployed youth of the district about the employment generation schemes and avenues.
The meeting was attended by CPO Uttam Singh, GM DIC, ACD and other concerned.
