DA hiked by 4% for govt employees, pensioners from January 1st

SRINAGAR: The government employees and pensioners will get Dearness Allowance(DA) at a hiked rate of 42 percent, with an increase of four percent to the existing rate with effect from January 1st this year.

An order issued by Secretary Finance Department reads, In continuation to Government Order No 245-F of 2022 dated 07,11.2022, it is hereby ordered that Government employees working in regular pay levels under 7th Pay Commission recommendations, shall be paid Dearness Allowance as under:-

Existing Rate of DA er month Revised Rate of DA er month With effect from 38% of Basic Pay 42% of Basic Pay 01.01.2023

The term ‘Basic Pay in the revised pay structure means the pay drawn in the prescribed level in the Pay Matrix as per 7th Pay Commission recommendations, but does not include any other type of pay like special pay etc.

The arrears on account of additional installment of Dearness Allowance with effect from January, 2023 shall be paid in cash in the month of May, 2023 and shall form part of salary from May, 2023 onwards.

The payment on account of Dearness Allowance involving fractions of 50 paise and above may be rounded to the next higher rupee and the fractions of less than 50 paise shall be ignored.
