Covidiocy: A Threat to Human Survival and Revival

We live in a world of Science and technology .Science has revolutionised every sphere of life; be it health care, education , or business . But in the world of advancement and enlightenment also there are many people who live in a world of ignorance. They believe that science and religion are antagonists. If they will follow science, they may be drawn towards atheism. They may be drawn away from religion when in reality believing in scientific facts is rationality while as denying scientific facts is naivety. Almighty Allah has called humans as Ashraful Makhloqat ; the crown of creation; who are bestowed with power to think , acquire knowledge and reflect. Islam is not against science and advancement. From health care, education to business Islam has always emphasised on using logic and Islam has never told us to shun away from seeking medical help and following precautionary measures. Everyone of us is acquainted with the fact that Covid is a pandemic that has created damage more than a war could do. World has lost lakhs of people due to this deadly virus but in our society there are so many people who are in delusion that Covid is nothing; it is a conspiracy or there is no need to take precautions. Some believe that everything happens by the will of Allah; death has a  specified time ; there is no need to follow precautionary measures; nothing can stop what is destined to happen. If it is predestined that they will get infected with Covid or other epidemic ; they will face it; Covid is a wrath of Allah  it cannot be stopped; No doubt everything happens by Allah’s will but Almighty has given us mind to think. Before crossing a road; why we look sideways ;if everything happen by Allah’s will; why is there need to look sideways; if it will be destined for us to die we will; When we fall ill ; why we seek consultation of doctor and for seeking job why we apply ; Rizq is in the hands of Allah but why he commanded us to work , strive and then trust. Same way covid is a deadly disease; a virus that spreads like fire and needs prevention and precaution so as to save oneself and mankind. Even if it is a wrath of Almighty, we still as true believers need to take precautions and seek mercy and  repentance from Allah. Our life is gift by Almighty Allah and it is our duty to take full care of it. On the judgement we will be held accountable. We will be asked where and how we utilised our health and wealth. Suicide and self harm is prohibited in Islam. we are ordained from harming ourselves and others ; Allah has prohibited us from anything that can pose threat to our lives like drug addiction, adultery. Islam ; a religion that is known for mercy and people friendly  never suggest us to risk our lives in the name of fate. Imaan has nothing to do with negligence. There are some people who equate negligence with Imaan and tawakal. Prophet Mohammad(pbuh) has narrated that “If an epidemic broke at any place, don’t leave that place or don’t enter that place”. This is the level of rationality and foresight of our Islam. Science in 21st cen. Has come to the conclusion that travel restrictions are the only means to contain spread of any epidemic but our Islam has recommended it 1400 years ago. Prophet Mohammad(PBUH) a greatest examplar of imaan and tawakal advised people on following precautions and restrictions. He(PBUH) never said trust Allah without following precautions and He will save you . Prophet Mohammad(PBUH) stressed on following precautions then trusting Allah because without efforts, trusting Allah is naivity. Prophet once said to a traveller ,tie your camel ist then trust Allah, same way we have to tie our camel(i.e follow advisories and take every precautionary measure) then trust Allah.

Myths About Covid-19

Covid 19 is nothing but the wrath of Allah; precautions cant do anything. What is predestined will happen; precautions cant help.

Covid 19 is just a golden eggs laying hen for governments. They show false positive reports to get grants from WHO and other organisations.

In India , especially in our valley there is derth of competent staff and facilities; tests are not done in proper way; even a common cold is labelled covid.

There is poor health care system, to make people take it seriously more positive cases then actual are presented.

Some people think that by not following health care precautions and prevention; they are doing brave acts. Some think that visiting markets, attending gatherings without wearing masks is an act of bravery; they fail to realise it is foolishness rather bravery.

Some people don’t understand gravity of the issue. They are in devil may care attitude. They are treating lockdown as holidays and enjoy them by having trips and picnics.

Some have naive optimism that they will not get infected with covid.

Patients and old people only are vulnerable to Covid.

Death is a part of life; covid is nothing new.

Those who are stronger in faith are immune against covid.

It is high time that health care and administrative advisories are followed in full zest and enthusiasm. No negligence can be tolerated. A negligence by a one member of a community can turn whole community into graveyard. We just have to maintain physical distancing, wear masks and wash hands frequently with soap; nothing else. Covid can infect anyone. No one other than those who follow advisiories are immune against this.  We have to shun myths and believe in facts. World has lost lakhs of people; and those who survive from this deadly virus are suggesting precautions as only  means for  survival and revival. Besides it is responsibility of medicos and researchers to come to forefront to clear all misconceptions about vaccination. There is reluctance among public as there are viral videos and posts on social media suggesting that covid vaccines can lead to infertility, migrane and decreased life expectancy.
