Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir government has set a one-week deadline for 100 percent inoculation of eligible population with second dose anti-Covid vaccination.
“We have strict instruction of from the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha to intensify vaccination drive across the Union Territory with special focus on second dose of the anti-COVID jab,” an official told The Dispatch.
He informed that 59 percent of eligible population have been covered with both doses of vaccine while the rest will be covered in a week.
It is pertinent to mention here that the last month, Jammu and Kashmir has achieved a last month, milestone of 100 per cent coverage of the first dose COVID-19 vaccine for the age group of above 18 years old across all 20 districts, Jammu & Kashmir Administration.
On Sunday, the Jammu and Kashmir recorded 151 fresh Covid cases, taking the infection tally to 3,32,911 on Saturday, while no new fatality was reported in the Union Territory.
Out of the fresh cases, 16 were from the Jammu division and 135 from the Kashmir division, they said.
Srinagar district recorded the highest of 79 cases followed by 14 cases in Baramulla district.
There are 1,091 active cases in the Union Territory, while 3,27,380 people have recovered from the infection, the officials said.
The death toll due to the pandemic was 4,440 as no new fatality was reported in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the officials said there are 49 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the Union Territory as no fresh case was reported since Friday evening.
