Jammu: A fully vaccinated person tested positive with delta plus variant in Jammu, which has been tagged variant of concern by Government of India (GoI)
“In Jammu Division the Delta plus variant was detected in a man hailing from talab tillo area and in his late 30s.The patient had tested positive at SMVDNSH Kakriyal, Katra ON May 15 and his sample was sent to NCDC,New Delhi for genomic sequencing,” Dr Shashi S sudhan Principal and Dean GMC Jammu said.
Dr Sudhan further said that this was also a case of vaccine breakthrough as the patient was fully vaccinated for COVID 19.
India is among ten countries where the delta plus variant has been found so far. There are over 40 cases of the new variant in the country. the states which have so far reported cases of the Delta plus variant include Maharashtra, Kerela and pockets of Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
