A team of researchers headed by Professor Manindra Agrawal of Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur is studying the spread of COVID in the country and making predictions based on their mathematical model called SUTRA.

He earlier predicted that peak of second wave of Corona virus pandemic will be over by mid of May.

Now his study says that cases will come down sharply in the coming days.

AIR correspondent reports, whole country is eagerly waiting for the second wave of Corona to pass.

The number of new COVID patients is decreasing day by day but the question is that is it really over.

Talking with AIR News, Professor Manindra Agrawal said that it will be early to say that the wave has ended.

Talking about the southern States especially Kerala Karnataka and Tamil Nadu where cases are still rising he said that in these parts, peak of COVID is yet to come but overall there will be decrease in the number of new cases in the country.

Prof. Agrawal said that lockdown helped in containing the spread in UP otherwise the cases would have been double in the state.

His team is also releasing data studies of cities regarding the peak and speed of COVID as per their special mathematical model SUTRA.
