264 deaths reported this year, 99 in last 10 days
SRINAGAR: Amid the spike in Covid-19 cases across India, Jammu and Kashmir is also witnessing a steep surge in mortality rate also.
As per data available, the Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed 264 deaths so far, among 99 deaths were reported in last 10 days alone.
The report reveals that Jammu and Kashmir witnessed only 111 deaths in first three months (Jan, Feb, March) of ongoing year, however, in month of April J&K has witnessed 153 deaths.
The first case of Covid-19 in J&K was reported in J&K on March 07 and since then 2,147 persons have died because of the virus. Among 2,147 deaths 1,883 were reported last year and 264 this year so far.
As per the data available, J&K was witnessing over six deaths on daily basis for the past one month.
Data shows that in 299 days (March 07-Dec 31 2020), J&K reported 1883 deaths and it’s average is 6.29 while as from Jan 01- 25 April 2021 J&K has reported 264 deaths with an average of 2.29.
However, data reveals, this month J&K has reported 153 deaths in first 25 days and it’s average is 6.12 and overall average deaths in J&K is 5.18 since the pandemic started.
Advisor to LG Manoj Sinha, RR Bhatnagar while talking with Kashmir News Observer said that in a pandemic some casualties are expected.
He said that all precautions are being taken and we are trying our best to reduce the death rate which has increased in the last few weeks.
He advised people to follow Covid-19 SOPs and vaccinate yourself so as to avoid the severity of the pandemic—(KNO)
